What are you still searching for?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 09, 2008:
The hunt is over,
I have laid down my arms.
That elusive creature
I sought,
was there the whole time,
right under my nose.
While walking in the lands,
bearing up under weather
good and bad,
I learned that
all I seek
will never be found
out there.
So I stopped.
I stood in the
rain, the snow, the sun,
arms outstretched,
and raised my voice,
my song,
not to heaven only
but to deep inside
myself.
I returned home.
I lit a fire, and sat down in my chair,
boots off to warm my weary feet,
looked around at my trophy's
and then
set out
to discover the riches within.
I have laid down my arms.
That elusive creature
I sought,
was there the whole time,
right under my nose.
While walking in the lands,
bearing up under weather
good and bad,
I learned that
all I seek
will never be found
out there.
So I stopped.
I stood in the
rain, the snow, the sun,
arms outstretched,
and raised my voice,
my song,
not to heaven only
but to deep inside
myself.
I returned home.
I lit a fire, and sat down in my chair,
boots off to warm my weary feet,
looked around at my trophy's
and then
set out
to discover the riches within.

Yep, I relate to what you're saying. I never thought of it as a hunt before, but that's exactly what it was. We were looking for our sustenance. And it was under our nose the whole time. It's amazing how many people are waking up to that knowing. Thanks for this poem.
That is beautiful. Breathtaking, even. Thank you.
